August 5, 2010 - NEWLY-RELEASED documents on UFOs have shed fresh light on the “Welsh Roswell” incident and suggest Britain’s wartime leaders believed revealing the truth about another sighting would cause mass panic and undermine Christianity.
Locals heard a huge bang and saw a brilliant light in the sky over the Berwyn Mountains in North Wales on the evening of January 23, 1974.
Some have claimed the explosion was caused by an alien spaceship crash that was covered up by the authorities.
X-files reveal UFO in garden and mystery of sonic boom - with poll
August 5, 2010 - A UFO was reported to have landed in a Derby garden in 1996, according to newly released Ministry of Defence files.
And in 1997, a mysterious "sonic boom" was heard over Hope Valley in the Peak District.
Today, the National Archives has released 18 x-files, charting all UFOs reported in the UK from 1995 to 2003, including strange phenomena in Derbyshire.
One of the reports from a Derby resident says they saw a "craft with a red light on top of it" in their back garden in Brook Street.
The person reported standing 6ft away from the craft, which was hovering 3m off the ground.
August 5, 2010 - Thousands of reports of suspected UFO sightings have been released by the National Records Archive for the first time, including reports of strange lights in the sky over Bristol.
The records have attracted national press coverage today as they include orders by Churchill during WW2 to cover up a possible sighting on the south coast and airline pilots reporting flying objects over Manchester.
Here in Bristol we have our own extensive claims made by a UFO investgator and several other witnesses in July 1996, who saw a collection of 26 lights hovering over the city, from Clifton to Bedminster, and many points inbetween.
One of the entries reads: "Sighting of double circle of lights by 36 year old man over Clifton, they were moving across the sky in different directions. Time 2.00hrs, duration 1 hour 5/7/96."

Witness report: On August 3, 2010 around 7:09PM in Mesa, AZ, I saw a lengthy flash of light in the North West that stayed in view for about 14 seconds while I was taking pictures of a jet. I took several pictures of the flash of light before it disappeared from my view. That light looked like a white/yellow color light with the intensity of a dim star.
Then about 11 minutes and 18 seconds later, I spotted a brilliant light similar to a bright star in the South West sky that just seem to just instantaneously appear in the sky not too far away from me. The color of the light appeared to be more of a lightest orange color with a hint of yellow in it. The light did flicker some but it mostly stay lit throughout my viewing. When I first spotted the object, I immediately started taking pictures of the UFO. It appeared to be very high up in the sky, and it was moving possibility at about the speed of a high altitude jet. I saw now contrails. In the beginning, the object did appeared to stay brightly lit, and it appeared to be flying in a straight path, but all that changed near the end of my picture session. At several points in the viewing, the object appeared to be move irrationally as in a sideway motion back and forth or a quick splurge in forward motion. It also appeared to be making a wide sweeping turn and at times a sudden change of direction to the right but still continue to stay on coarse westerly direction. Also towards the end of the sighting, the object began to appear varying in light intensity which eventually began to slowly dim to a point to which it appeared to vanished. I continued to take 3 to 5 more pictures after I lost visual contact with the object which those pictures shows that the object was still visible but only to the camera. That sighting lasted 6 minutes and 26 seconds.

Witness report: While chatting outdoors with a friend I spotted a lighted craft in the sky on a northbound heading coming in from the south. The craft traveled progressively nearer to our location while gaining altitude. The craft seemed odd per its considerable speed, lack of blinking lights and lack of sound. At approximately 0105HRS I retrieved my camera from my home while my friend remained outside to monitor the craft's heading (approximately 30 seconds). At approximately 0106HRS the craft stopped its heading and began to accelerate immediately upward. My friend noticed a pendular motion to the craft that I am unable to confirm as I was staring at my camera's display screen and attempting to secure as many photographs as possible before losing sight of it. The craft continued upward until it was no longer visible (approximately 0107HRS). I was able to secure some photographs but no video.

Witness report: Garden Grove, ca. July 28, 2010. We observed a stationary object in the sky at about 11:30pm at 33.781537,-117.903407. After ruling out the possibility that it was a star, a plane, and helicopter, we decided to record it with my sony dsc-h20. Object seemed to be emitting colored lights in no particular pattern or order. One witness, who was with me, claimed he saw several smaller round orbs around the object itself.
At beginning of the video, we noticed a plane or helicopter flying from left to right, almost intersecting the object, and at exactly 00:04 seconds into the video, we notice a "ray" or "laser" type object appear from the top right of the object, travel towards both the object unidentified and the plane, then disappear right before it neared the object. Object did not seem to move throughout the 50+ mins of observation, eventually, however slowly going out of sight behind some trees.
