September 6, 2010 - SIMPSONVILLE, S.C. -- For a moment Sunday night, Jawad Ashey thought he was seeing things.
"At first, I was like, oh this is cool," he said. "Then I thought, 'Oh! this is kind of scary!'"
The Simpsonville man was sitting on the front porch with his girlfriend Sunday around 10:30 p.m. when a blue light appeared in the sky. Ashey says it started out small and then got bigger. He believes it was a UFO.
"I was a skeptic, but now I'm a believer," he said.
Ashey said he caught the whole thing on his video camera. Looking at the video, the object stays in the sky for about three minutes.
"I'm definitely coming back out tonight to see if it shows up again."
WSPA meteorologist Dan Bickford says there is "nothing unusual", like a meteor shower, going on in the atmosphere right now.

This presentation begins with a brief history of NASA's "Skylab" program before focusing on a bizarre UFO encounter that occurred on September 20th, 1973, during Flight Day 55 of the Skylab III (SLM-2) mission. This UFO encounter can be classified as a highly credible case as it was witnessed by all three Skylab crew members, with the astronauts observing and photographing the unidentified object for at least a 10-minute period before both Skylab and the UFO crossed the sunset terminator into darkness and visual contact was finally lost.
In addition to examining the available official archive evidence about this Skylab III UFO incident, I also thought it relevant in this video to point out several of the contradictions that exist in that official evidence chain. While these inconsistencies do not prove a cover-up about this incident was/is in place at NASA, what should be clear is that IF there was a cover-up in place, these contradictions certainly would have aided in that cover-up because, deliberate or not, they serve to muddle and even conveniently eliminate from the public record some very important evidence related to this sighting that should exist and be available for us to analyze.
However, even with those contradictions in the official evidence chain, the Skylab III encounter remains a confirmed UFO sighting that has never been explained. What is certain is that the Skylab III crew had no idea what this bizarre pulsating red object was, and neither does NASA or NORAD (at least officially).
Also, in this video I reference an in-flight diary entry made by Commander Alan Bean during Skylab III on Flight Day 55 of his mission. This quote comes directly from the book "HOMESTEADING SPACE: THE SKYLAB STORY", written by David Hitt, Owen Garriott, and Joe Kerwin. The appendix of this book contains a typed copy of the text from Commander Bean's entire in-flight diary that he kept during his mission. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in reading more about some of the history behind NASA's Skylab space station.

Witness report: I'm a real estate broker in Argentina, and on this particular morning I was taking photographs of the building you see in photo, and in particular one apartment.
I had not noticed anything ususual when I took my photos.
The very next day, I showed this picture to a customer, and he noticed the unknown object in the sky.
He told me it was a UFO.
I have no experience in these types of things, so you look and decide for yourself.
September 3, 2010 - After stalling out several times, an initiative to create a commission in Denver to study extraterrestrials is once again looking to take off.
Jeff Peckman kicked off his voter education campaign this week for Initiative 300, which would establish a seven-member panel that would be charged with collecting data and research to prepare Denverites in the event of a possible alien encounter. The initiative received enough valid signatures to be placed on the November ballot.
Peckman yesterday was enthusiastic about raising awareness for his initiative. The voter education campaign seeks to educate the voters with as many good facts as I can get in front of them when they're paying attention, according to Peckman.
Peckman wants to let people know that the commission would not cost taxpayers anything. He is also looking to educate people about a wide range of issues that he believes are directly related to extra terrestrial visitations, such as clean energy, jobs and environmental health.
There's a great deal to be gained by including the topic of extra terrestrial visitors into those discussions, he said.
Initiative 300 would create a seven-person panel consisting of volunteers who are knowledgeable experts on extraterrestrials. The commission would be funded entirely by grants, gifts and donations, according to Peckman.
Peckman believes Denver is in a good position to lead the country. For one, Denver is closer to outer space than almost any other major U.S. city, he said.

We owe UFOs to the decades of speculations and factoids we've grown all our lives listening too. Inter-galactic invasions, revolving saucers etc. have been an important fragment of these claims. However, the cases of this abnormal genre do not make it till the end and turn into a myth. A similar attitude would've been adopted towards a congruent intrusion but if it's the one that made it to the famous White house in Washington D.C, it'll certainly be dignified by catching eyes.
It was a Saturday midnight, July 19, 1952, when the air traffic controller picked up the erratic signals on the radar. The characteristics of this supernatural phenomenon included boosting at incredible speeds beyond the radar's capability to catch and non-uniform orbits around the White house. Over the years, the U.S government agencies have been staunch on keeping the mere existence of UFO's a secret. This happening just seemed to have really crossed the line. As soon as the intrusion was acknowledged by the U.S military, fighter jets were ordered to a hunt down and intercept mission. By the time the fliers were soaring in the sky, these unknown lights had vanished out of sight. When encountered later that night, turned the tables on the interceptor and started to hunt after the fighter planes. Dreading the scourge, the pilot asked for an 'open fire' command but fortunately, the enemy air craft retreated without any violence.
This day came down in history as one of the closest apprehensions of extra terrestrials. The President of the United States took a personal interest in this UFO incident. Clamoring media and scientists got the explanation of 'temperature inversion' out of the whole unknown lights trauma. The purported rationality of the government agencies was treated derisively. The testimony of the hundreds of eye-witnesses fell on deaf ears and the famous UFO incident at White house, Washington D.C. to this day, remains a mystery to all of us.

Radar spot blips like aircraft for nearly six hours - only 1.700 feet up

Military secrecy veils an investigation of the mysterious, glowing aerial objects that showed up on radar screens in the Washington area Saturday night for the second consecutive week. A jet pilot sent up by the Air Defense Command to investigate the objects reported he was unable to overtake the glowing lights moving near Andrews Air Force Base.
The CAA reported reported the objects traveled at "predominantly lower levels"-about 1700 feet. July 19. Air Force spokesmen said yesterday only that an investigation was being made into the sighting of the objects on the radar screen in the CAA Air Route Traffic Control Center at Washington National Airport, and on two other radar screens. Methods of the investigations were classified as secret, a spoken said.
"We have no evidence they are flying saucers; conversely we have no evidence they are not flying saucers. We don't know what they are," a spokesman added. The same source reported an expert from the Air Technical Intelligence Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton Ohio, was here last week investigating the objects sighted July 19.
The expert has been identified as Capt. E. J. Ruppelt. Reached by telephone at his home in Dayton yesterday, Ruppelt said he could make no comment on his activity in Washington. Capt. Ruppelt confirmed he was in Washington last week but said he had not come here to investigate the mysterious objects. He recalled he did make an investigation after hearing of the objects, but could not say what he investigated.
Another Air Force spokesman said here yesterday the Air Force is taking all steps necessary to evaluate the sightings. "The intelligence people," this spokesman explained, "sent someone over to the control center at the time of the sightings and did whatever necessary to make the proper evaluation. Asked whether the radar equipment might have been mis-functioning, the spokesman said, "radar, like the compass is not a perfect instrument and is subject to error." He thought, however, the investigation would be made by persons acquainted with the problems of radar.
Two other radar screens in the area picked up the objects. An employee of the National Airport control tower said the radar scope there picked up very weak "blips" of the objects. The tower radar's for "short range" and is not so powerful as that at the center. Radar at Andrews Air Force Base also registered the objects from about seven miles south of the base. A traffic control center spokesman said the nature of the signals on the radar screen ruled out any possibility they were from clouds or any other "weather" disturbance. "The returns we received from the unidentified objects were similar and analagous to targets representing aircraft in flight," he said.
The objects, "flying saucer" or what have you, appeared on the radar scope at the airport center at 9:08 PM. Varying from four to 12 in number, the objects appeared on the screen until 3:00 AM., when they diappeared. At 11:25 PM., two F-94 jet fighters fro Air Defense Command squadron, at New CAstle Delaware, capable of 600 hundred mph speeds, took off to investigate the objects. Airline, civil and military pilots described the objects as looking like the lit end of a cigarette or a cluster of orange and red lights.
One jet pilot observed four lights in the vicinity of Andrews Air Force Base, but was not able to over-take them, and they disappeared in about two minutes. The same pilot observed a steady white light in the vicinity of Mt Vernon at 11:49 PM. The light, about 5 miles from him, faded in a minute. The lights were also observed in the Beltsville, MD., vicinity. At 1:40 AM two-other F-94 jet fighters took off and scanned the area until 2:20 AM., but did not make any sightings.
Visible two days
Although "unidentified objects" have been picked up on radar before, the incidents of the last two saturdays are believed to be the first time the objects have been picked up on radar-while visible to the human eye. Besides the pilots, who last saturday saw the lights, a woman living on Mississippi Ave., told the Post she saw a very "bright light streaking across the sky towards Andrews Air Force Base about 11:45 PM. Then a second object with a tail like a comet whizzed by, and a few seconds later, a third passed in a different direction toward Suntland, she said.
Radar operators plotted the speed of "saturday night's visitors" at from 38 to 90 mph, but one jet pilot reported faster speeds for the light he saw. The jet pilot reported he had no apparent "closing speed" when he attempted to reach the lights he saw near Andrews Air Force Base. That means the lights were moving at least as fast as his top speed-a maximum of 600 mph. One person who saw the lights when they first appeared in this area did not see them last night. He is E.W. Chambers, an engineer at Radio Station WRC, who spotted the lights while working early the morning of July 20 at station's Hyattsville tower.
Chamber's said he was sorry he had seen the lights because he had been skeptical about "flying saucers" before. Now he said, he sort of "wonders" and worrys about the whole thing. Leon Davidson, 804 South Irving St. Arlington, a chemical engineer who made an exhaustive study of "flying saucers" as a hobby, said yesterday reports of saucers in the East, have been relatively rare. Davidson has studied the official report on the saucers, including some of the secret portions never made public, and analyzed all the data in the report.
Davidson, whose study of saucers is impressively detailed and scientific, said he believes the lights are American "aviation products"-probably "circular flying wings," using new type jet engines that permit rapid acceleration and relatively low speeds. He believes, they are either "new fighter," guided missiles, or piloted guided missiles. He cited some of the recent jet fighters, including the Navy's new " F-4-D, which has a radical "bat-wing," as examples of what the objects might resemble. Davidson thinks the fact that the lights have been seen in this area indicates the authorities may be ready to disclose the "new aircraft" in the near future. Previously, most of the "verified saucers" have been seen over sparsely inhabited areas, Davidson explained, and now, when they appear here, it may indicate that "secrecy" is not so important any more.

Another UFO spotted in Zhejiang Province in Eastern China
September 2, 2010 - People's Daily Online has reported another UFO sighting in Eastern China. This one was spotted on August 31st in the southwestern Haiyan County of Zhejiang Province.
The object sighted on Tuesday night was very bright, according to eyewitnesses. It was visible for at least three hours. It drew the attention of two reporters from Haiyan's local television station. The reporters who followed the object by car were said to have taken relatively clear pictures of it.
The reporters stated that the pictures they took show: "a round object that had shining blue lights, and several other flickering objects around it."
The object's appearance seemed to change at one point, according to eyewitnesses. The round object seemingly became rectangular before eventually flying higher and disappearing.
Other witnesses said that the object constantly twinkled and was not flying at a high altitude. One of them noted: "It looked quite big and it seemed that it was moving."
This is the latest in a string of UFO sightings in Eastern China. Two of those sightings made international news, reported by ABC News, Fox News, CNN and others.
Earlier this year, on July 7th, a UFO sighting caused the Hangzou Xiaoshan Airport to be shut down, also in Zhejiang Province. Twenty flights were diverted to neighboring airports. A team of experts from Shanghai and Beijing joined in on the resulting investigation into the incident. The experts concluded that the object was likely an illegally flying private plane, but have not identified the plane or the pilot.
A week later, a UFO was spotted in Chongqing in Sichuan Province. This object also remains unidentified.

The Universe can create itself from nothing,
says Prof Hawking
September 2, 2010 - There is no place for God in theories on the creation of the Universe, Professor Stephen Hawking has said.
He had previously argued belief in a creator was not incompatible with science but in a new book, he concludes the Big Bang was an inevitable consequence of the laws of physics.
The Grand Design, part serialised in the Times, says there is no need to invoke God to set the Universe going.
"Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something," he concluded.
'Planetary conditions'
In his new book, an extract of which appears in the Times, Britain's most famous physicist sets out to contest Sir Isaac Newton's belief that the universe must have been designed by God as it could not have sprung out of chaos.
Citing the 1992 discovery of a planet orbiting a star other than our Sun, he said: "That makes the coincidences of our planetary conditions - the single Sun, the lucky combination of Earth-Sun distance and solar mass - far less remarkable, and far less compelling as evidence that the Earth was carefully designed just to please us human beings."
He adds: "Because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing.

August 30, 2010 - KINDERHOOK — We may not be able to identify unidentified flying objects, but that doesn’t mean they’re not real. That was the gist of a talk by historian John Horner Saturday at Kinderhook Memorial Library.
“I believe they’re real,” he said. “There’s a strong body of evidence. I don’t buy the extraterrestrial hypothesis. I believe they are as yet unknown phenomena.”
Horner led an overflowing audience through the history of sightings in the U.S., beginning with the first major sighting in 1896 in San Francisco. Since there were no airplanes at that time, the Sacramento Bee used nautical or railroad terms to describe it, like “air brakes,” “boat-shaped hull” or “steam-powered,” referring to the most technologically sophisticated vehicles of the day.
Reports of early sightings often described the occupant of the vessel as a “lone inventor,” a description that reflects figures like Eli Whitney, Robert Fulton and Thomas Edison. “It was believable to the people at the time,” Horner said. “We have a strong belief in technology and industry. The fact that it occurred in the U.S. made it more believable.”
Soon the Wright Brothers came along, and then World War I “changed everything in our perception of technology,” he said. “Death from the sky was now a reality.”
Orson Welles’ 1938 radio broadcast “The War of the Worlds,” although it included a disclaimer at the beginning of the show, pretended to be a news account of the invasion of Earth from outer space. The panicked reaction to the show is evidence to Horner of how much currency the idea of UFOs had. “For the panic to reach this extent, it had to be believable,” he said.
September 1, 2010 - The modern UFO phenomenon began in the 1940s. Yet despite decades of evidence, and the fact that opinion polls (such as Gallup) have consistently shown that the majority of people believe that flying saucers are real, this phenomenon has yet to be seriously and systematically investigated by the academic and scientific mainstream. Why? In large part, it has to do with the hypothesis that unexplained UFO sightings represent encounters with artificial, intelligently-controlled craft of non-terrestrial origin. Extraordinary evidence, such as an alien body or an intact craft, has yet to be made publicly available; many claim that such evidence is indispensable to justify any serious investigation at all into this issue, as claims that Earth has been visited by a non-terrestrial intelligence are inherently extraordinary. But while perhaps intuitively correct, this notion crumbles in the face of logical reasoning and facts.
Naturally, this begs the question, “If the presence of extraterrestrials on Earth is not an inherently extraordinary claim, then what is?” An example soon comes to mind. Bigfoot sightings typically occur in the northwestern United States of America. Whether or not Bigfoot exists (and let me be “clear” that I do not intend to argue for or against the existence of Bigfoot in this op-ed), what matters here is that in the case of Bigfoot, there does in fact exist a clear frame of reference justifying a standard of proof far higher than would normally be required for a phenomenon new to science. The region as a whole is highly populated, includes major urban areas, and enjoys a modern, fully-developed infrastructure of roads, airports, hiking trails, etc that allow people more or less free access to even the remotest parts of the region. Large numbers of scientists and experienced outdoorsmen have operated throughout the region for more than a century, and in that time have achieved intimate familiarity with the area’s fauna, large and small. As such, one has at least some reasonable basis to claim that, if Bigfoot exists, its existence would probably have been confirmed by now. The notion of Bigfoot as an extraordinary claim requiring extraordinary evidence stems from a frame of reference firmly based in sound logic and relevant facts.
