Found! First Earth-Size Planet That Could Support Life! -17 April, 2014

On April 17, 2014, scientists working with data from the Kepler Space Telescope announced the discovery of the first Earth-size planet in the habitable zone of it’s star. The planet, Kepler-186f, is a rocky world only 10% larger than Earth. Never before has a planet so close to Earth in size, and therefore gravity, been found in the habitable zone where liquid water can exist.
“This is the best case for a habitable planet yet found. The results are absolutely rock solid,” said University of California, Berkeley astronomer Geoff Marcy via email.
The discovery suggests that many more such earth-like planets will be discovered in the near future.

  1. Well at that distance if there is intelligent life there our receiving dishes won't pick up their transmissions for another 440 years or so. Their planet is nearly 500 light years from earth.

    • Depends on WHEN they sent off their radio signals !!! "440 yrs or so" ? It would take about 880 years, assuming you're talking about a reply .

  2. If o'l fred could find a worm hole i'd drive my caddy into it come out the other side and show them fellas on that planet how to dance to K.C. and the sunshine band…..
