On late 16th August 2010 i've seen a similat flashing light in south east of italy during a beatuful starry night. I was near Gargano in south-east of italy and i've seen a brilliant withe light crossing the night sky from north to south. It was high and fast and i've seen it travel from north orizon to south orizon in about half minute. It was travelling on an ipotetic straight line
