Famous UFO cases: Battle of Los Angeles 1942

The wrath of the nocturnal magic lantern
The date, February 25, 1942, clinched its mark in the books of history, for the inquisitive masses to squander their time and resources on, unveiling one of the greatest sightings known to man. Back in the days when the carnage and aftermath of the World War 2 was at its peak, the famous UFO battle of Los Angeles occurred. Following the notorious attack on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese, the encounter of the alleged UFO spaceship case at Los Angeles (L.A.) was assumed to be an endeavor by the Japanese to invade America.
“Waaeeyoon waaeeyoon” squealed the siren, in the middle of the night, waking the slumbering residents of California. The air raid wardens jolted out of their beds to experience the surreal discovery. To their arrant bewilderment, there hovered a magnanimous object, swathing the blacked out city of LA with its awe. The wardens scurried about the darkened city for an hour until US military planes were seen, barraging at the obnoxious air craft. Illuminated by the numerous searchlights in Culver City and Santa Monica, the object remained impervious to heavy confrontational fire. Faced with this precarious situation, the most fearless of military men trembled at despair. The useless thumping of human artillery against the object was reverberated throughout Los Angeles, exciting dread amongst the locals, killing 3 with instant heart attacks. It was an hour after that the guns fell silent, leaving behind 3 casualties that were killed in the anti-air craft fire. The craft gradually vanished into the fuming atmosphere, leaving appalled souls in distress.
Many people have been reported to give testimony on this famous UFO battle of Los Angeles. Along with the description of the war, people attributed a felicitous comparison of the ill-fated 1942 to the 4th of July. Speculation started to rain as the ambience started to get back to normal. A few hours later to the rumble, military and navy officials conducted statements saying that it was a false alarm. Pertaining to the story, the fire had been triggered by fidgeting nerves. The press still thrived for facts, rather than factoids. Concurrently, the scandalizing government officials, whom had waited long to move the weapon industries in-land, chose to manipulate the UFO news for propaganda.
Modern-day UFO researchers have suggested the targets were extraterrestrial spacecraft. To this day, the famous UFO battle of Los Angeles remains an unresolved issue, among the other UFO news cases.

1942 ‘Battle Of Los Angeles’ – Imagine a visiting spacecraft from another world, or dimension, hovering over a panicked and blacked-out LA in the middle of the night just weeks after Pearl Harbor at the height of WWII fear and paranoia. Imagine how this huge ship, assumed to be some unknown Japanese aircraft, was then attacked as it hung, nearly stationary, over Culver City and Santa Monica by dozens of Army anti-aircraft batteries firing nearly 2,000 rounds of 12 pound, high explosive shells.

In the aftermath of the entrance of the U.S. into World War II, there were fears of a Japanese attack on California. There were some submarine attacks on West Coast shipping. However, a false report of Japanese aircraft over Los Angeles led to the “Battle of L.A.,” with anti-aircraft guns firing into the sky. This clip illustrates the early wartime tensions in California and Los Angeles. Such tensions reflected the climate that led to the internment of the West Coast Japanese-origin population.

UFO – Battle of Los Angeles witness

Grandpa discussing having witnessed one of the most famous mass sightings in UFO history.

When I visited him last in 2006, I asked him if he knew about the incident or saw it. He’s almost 90 now but he recalled seeing the craft(s) when it flew over…and in great detail. He even recalled the month in which it occurred before we finally found the date on the internet to confirm it!

After we discussed it a bit, I went and googled up a few articles on the internet and brought the laptop to him as he seemed interested in talking more about it.

Unfortunately, I did not get his discussion on tape. But on that night, he said, at about 2am, the “neighbor kids” came pounding on the door to wake up the neighborhood because they could all hear the gunfire and see the object and search lights. And the electricity had been shut off so everyone thought they were under attack again.

Grandma and grandpa both awoke and went out in the front lawn to watch the object(s) with the neighbors.
He went on to say that they watched it for about 10 or 15 minutes before the object slowly drifted out over the ocean. He is not really interested in UFOs or aliens or whatever. But as he says in the video “we never even dreamed of UFOs in those days”. He flew planes for the Navy for a time during the war, so he knows a little about aviation. He just said that he knew it was too slow to be a plane, too big to be a blimp and that the Army fired on it the whole time as it flew over. I asked him what he thought it was and he said that he doesn’t think we are alone in the universe….but that’s as far as he would go with his beliefs about where this object might have come from.
