If ET wants to get humanity's undivided attention, they'll park a Madagascar-sized spacecraft between Earth & the Moon for a week or 2, not say or do a thing, and then buzz off into the Galaxy. The message is simply, "Large and In-Charge". Humans will get the message; stop marginalizing all this other stuff; time for humanity to grow up.
