less odd actually. where i live, at this time of year, birds start to sing at 3:30-4:00 am! it's still dark but with a hint of dawn. i guess on this film we can't see the light of dawn on his camera.
I can confirm that, I live in Maine and you can hear the birds starting to wake up well before the dawn while it's still dark, and they are quite loud.
