I've seen lots of strange lights at night, but would not jump to the conclusion that they are extraterrestrial. Now if I had seen them in the daylight or metallic looking craft close up, then I would think differently.
I saw a large white ball of light on the same night while at my grandmother's house in Dittmer, MO. I suspect it was over St. Claire. Anyway, it was in the NW area from Dittmer. It was moving too slow to be a meteor and too fast to be a star. It moved in a straight vertical descent at a steady speed. If you were to hold out your index finger upward near view of it, it would move
If it was going in a straight line and a steady speed I would say it's a satellite, maybe even the space station. Satellites are visible every clear night if you look long enough. The space station is very bright also, I've seen it myself. If you do a search online there are websites that show where it was at any particular time, I would suggest looking it up and seeing if the station was
